RIP To Philadelphia's Notorious Public Enemy #1, Tony Romo

NFL – Tony Romo has chosen retirement. Despite interest from at least one playoff-ready NFL team, the Dallas Cowboys legend and four-time Pro Bowler is set to retire in order to pursue a career in football broadcasting, according to NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport. Romo was slated to be released by the Cowboys on Tuesday. The news was first reported by ESPN. “Tony Romo made the decision after this comes out, after consulting with those close to him, after examining his body and looking at where he is in his career, he decided to step away from football and embrace one of the broadcasting opportunities that he’s had for some time,” Rapoport reported on Good Morning Football on Tuesday.

No, Romo’s not dead. Even though he might be close when he snaps his vertebrae putting on his headset in the booth and is out 4-6 weeks. BOOM! Roasted.

So where does Romo land in the hierarchy of all-time Philly hatred? Granted, ANYONE who goes under center for the Cowboys gets an automatic stamp of shit from anyone who bleeds green. I don’t care what they’re doing in life, the likes of Quincy Carter, Chad Hutchinson, and Stephen McGee can forever go fuck themselves. But Romo as a person shouldn’t be as loathed as other enemies of the Philadelphia state. Complete dicks like Sidney Crosby, JD Drew, and Steve Weatherford who publicly come after the Philly faithful should be held in higher regard for hate than Tony Romo. Hell, Joe Carter, whom I’m sure is a decent human, is a complete bag of shit for ending every childhood in the Philadelphia area in 1993. Maybe Romo shouldn’t be detested as much as these other antagionists, especially since he didn’t win.

In fact, as much as I hate the Cowboys, I respect the FUCK out of Tony Romo. The guy has been beaten down more times than Al Bundy’s dodge, and that’s with accumulating more total milage. After ever broken bone and shattered spleen, the guy comes back and takes his whoopin’ like a man. No complaining. No drama. Romo was a class act and a half when Dak took over last season. Hell, he even won, sometimes. In all honesty, if Tony Romo had the same exact career in Philadelphia he’d probably have a statue in South Philly. So good luck to Tony in his future endeavors and maybe, one day, we can all come together to Fuck Dallas.
